Lessons from the Journey

Woman with luggage

When I began the journey to become a self-published author, I had some ideas about the many hats I would need to wear to get a quality book written, edited, formatted, printed, and offered for sell at various online bookstores, such as Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. I knew one of the hats I would have to wear would be that of business owner; and therefore took time to research and plan to wear it well. But there was another area to which I gave inadequate consideration. That area is called “marketing.”

I understood a bit about news releases, book signings, speaking engagements, and trade shows. But as I began revisiting the marketing area, I would soon learn it could not be classified as a hat. It was more like a complete milliner’s shop, stocked with hats of many sizes and kinds. People kept telling me I needed an Internet presence; that I should have a dynamic, as opposed to static, website; and should get my message out through Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and other social media. Introduction to the concept of Internet Marketing sent me back to school (self-teachings). There I would become more fascinated than ever about the wonders of technology.

In this section, I will be sharing written and video Tips and Lessons from the Journey.
